Dr.Sujata Udeshi, is a clinical nutritionist by profession.
Her career spanning two and a half decades has several milestones. She is aconsultant to food industries where she does nutritional analysis, product development and clinical trials. She has also worked as Chief Dietician with Lilavati Hospital , Mumbai and with Inlaks and Budhrani Hospital and Research Centre, Pune. For both these hospitals she has set up their Dietetics department.
Another area of expertise, which she has explored, is to give valuable nutritional inputs in two books, ‘Healthy Tasty Recipes’ and ‘Low Cal Vegetarian Recipes’, written by Chef Sanjeev Kapoor. She was also Nutritional Consultant to his Khana Khazana programme.
She is consultant to educational institutions providing insights on child nutrition and canteen hygiene. She also charts out special nutrition for sports.
She was on the panel a Nutrition Consultant to corporate clients like Procter and Gamble. She was also expert consultant for Diet Department of Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad .
Realising that one diet cannot fit all and there is a need of "tailor-made diet"as each human is unique and has different lifestyle Dr.Sujata did her Ph.D. in ‘Medical Nutrition Therapy in Indian Health Care System for Chronic Diseases and Role of Automation in its Implementation’. The chronic diseases studied in depth were Obesity, Diabetes and Heart Diseases.
She has developed diet and administrative softwares for hospitals, dietitians, doctors and health clubs. She has provided diet software for Lilawati hospital, Sun Pharmaceuticals (for Diabetologists) Marico Industries and Wockhardt. She helped Eurest and RKHS by consulting for their 35 hospitals across the nation with hospital diet software.
She has written articles in leading newspapers, done TV shows and lectured extensively to create awareness about nutrition and health. She also regularly takes part in seminars and annual convention of Nutrition Society of India.
She is a weekly food and health columnist with DNA, Navi Mumbai. She has her Diet Clinic in Mumbai, India
Of late, she is writing poetry, which touches the strings of ones soul. She has got lot of appreciation for her writing, which transport the listeners to a sublime realm of understanding.
